Re: Willie Thorne
WT agreed in 2016 to do a PR campaign / public awareness shift for Sport Relief, "Famous Rich And Homeless".

Every celeb was asked to spend a week on the streets. Thorne found it all a bit tough. Said his foot hurt and booked himself into a hotel. TBF, he took a new homeless mate with him. At least he tried.... and he argued that it proved just how tough homelessness really was.

And, he arguably wasn't "Rich" anyway. Not long after, he was declared bankrupt, owed £450,000 in gambling debts. Overall, he borrowed over £1m while "insolvent". Maybe that's where Lineker's money went?

Yep, "a character".

RIP Willie.

Re: Willie Thorne
I'm sure he worked for the events firm that held the audience with di canio evenings, and I'm sure he was the compere. I always liked listening to his commentary with virgo, and he was a great break builder

Lineker will be upset.

But RIP Willie. Was certainly a character, seemed to have many struggles in his life, some well documented. Maybe in a better place now. Sad news.

Re: Willie Thorne
66 years old. That means that he was 32 when Snooker Loopy came out. He basically looked the same all his life. I wouldn't be surprised if his school photos had him with a 'tache and bald head.

Anyway, RIP Willie.

Re: Willie Thorne
Sad news. From the golden age of snooker when players could smoke and have pints during matches. They had a bit of character about them.

Sad news

Met him a few times, he's a genuinely nice bloke

He was/is "Mister 147" as he'd had more 147s (in practice) than anyone else
